As for WP-Spamfree, I'm glad to hear about another option, although right now I'm really pleased with how well Akismet catches my spam. See how technology has changed our vocabulary? I'm sure a lot of the words in your comment would sound like another language to many people. For example: plug-ins, comment spammers, mew (don't know that one myself), upload, zip, drop down menu.
