My youngest son owns a couple of iPod repair shops in Toronto, so he keeps up with all the latest products from Mac. He got himself an iPhone and brought it with him when he visited us.
It’s a neat looking little thing with very clear graphics and the capability to not only talk on the phone, but surf the net, read his email, watch movies, and listen to music.
While he sat on the couch waiting for dinner, he checked the hockey scores on the net (the Leafs were losing), while we played a board game he multi tasked and played a game of poker on the net. You get the picture.
The iPhone saves my son a lot of time, so that he has the time to come and visit me. Thank you technology!

While at my sister-in-law’s for a visit, she was showing me her new (to her) laptop. She couldn’t figure out why there would be an icon on the desktop for a cd burner, yet her husband said there was no burner in the laptop.
Since we thought we were smarter than he was, we decided to go ahead and try it anyway. We clicked the icon, the program installed the cd burner software and we gloated and bragged about how smart we were.
Then we got a blank cd, put it in the drive and told the program to burn away. Guess what? Nothing happened.
My brother-in-law patiently explained to the two red-faced women beside him that the laptop had a cd drive, not a cd burner, so no matter what software might be installed, it still would not work. He knew because it used to be his laptop.
Just for the record, we were not being stubborn, but women just like to see things for themselves.

I just made a discovery about my comments feature.
When I was having so much trouble with spam, I had to stop allowing comments, and I couldn’t figure out why I was still getting them. Later, I installed the Akismet plugin that catches spam (and does a great job too) and turned the comments back on, but blog posts that were already written still wouldn’t allow comments.
I thought I must have to manually go back to each old post and check “allow comments”. So I did, but once I got past the post where I decided to stop comments, the older posts were fine.
Finally the light bulb went on (sometimes in my head it takes a while) and I realized that when I stop comments from the main options area of Wordpress, it only stops them from that point on (not all of my past writing, like I thought it would).
Same thing when I turn the function back on. It only does exactly what I tell it to - now if only I could do that with my husband.
